Conditional Permanent Residence is only valid for two years. A permanent resident must file a petition to remove the condition within ninety days before your conditional residence expires. If your petition is approved, you will receive a new Green Card, valid for ten years.
Requirements for Removing Conditions:
- Green card based on marriage: you must file a petition to remove the conditions of residence, including dependent children who acquired conditional resident status on the same day. Otherwise, dependent children must file a petition separately.
- Green card for entrepreneurs: you must file a petition to remove conditions on permanent resident status.
